Venice and the Rising Tide - Tour 18

Our walking tour begins in Campo Santo Stefano, one of Venice’s largest squares. Surrounded by historic palaces, the square still hums with activity, yet careful observation reveals water stains and crumbling foundations—a sign of Venice’s ongoing battle with ‘acqua alta’ , high water, and saltwater erosion.

As you wander through narrow alleys and quiet canals, the contrast between charm and decay becomes evident: sagging balconies, weathered doors, and walls etched by moisture tell the story of a city both beautiful and vulnerable.
Venice is celebrated for its canals, bridges, and breathtaking architecture, yet behind this beauty lies a city constantly under pressure. Rising tides, crumbling buildings, and the relentless impact of tourism shape a fragile urban landscape.

This walking tour uncovers the subtle signs of strain that mark daily life in Venice, revealing a city as captivating as it is precarious.
Reaching the Rialto Bridge, once the center of Venetian trade, the impact of tourism and boat traffic is clear. Crowds, markets, and waves from passing boats accelerate erosion, demanding constant restoration of buildings and canal edges. The Grand Canal mirrors Venice’s splendor while highlighting its fragility, a lifeline slowly wearing away centuries of history.
The tour ends at Piazza San Marco, where beauty meets danger. Floods regularly reach the square, and preservation work is never-ending. Walking these streets reveals Venice not just as a historic gem, but as a resilient city quietly struggling to survive in a changing world.

The guided tour costs 200,00 Euro for small groups and families up to 8 people.

Secret Gardens - Tour 19

Your walking tour begins as you meet your guide in one of Venice’s charming squares, ready to lead you away from the bustling streets and into the city’s hidden green retreats.

Venice is famous for its canals and historic architecture, but its hidden gardens are among the city’s best-kept secrets. Scattered throughout the districts, these Venetian gardens are often tucked behind high walls, monasteries, churches, and grand palaces, creating peaceful oases where visitors can discover quiet courtyards filled with lush greenery, flowering plants, and fragrant herbs, places where nature thrives despite the proximity to the sea.
Many gardens feature a mix of ornamental plants, fruit trees, and vegetables, reflecting the traditions of aristocratic residences and monastic communities. The soil, often enriched by the salty lagoon air, allows a unique blend of plants to flourish, creating colorful and fragrant landscapes that change with the seasons. Walking through these hidden spaces, it is possible to feel a deep sense of calm and connection to the history of Venice, as these gardens preserve centuries-old horticultural traditions.
Access to Venetian gardens can be limited, so visitors may have the chance to see one or a few, depending on availability. Exploring these secluded areas offers a rare glimpse into the private and tranquil side of Venice, revealing the city not just as a center of art and architecture, but also as a haven for nature and serenity.

The guided tour costs 300,00 Euro for small groups and families up to 8 people.

History of the Gondola - Tour 20

This walking tour is dedicated to discovering the gondola and its deep connection with the life and history of Venice. Your guide will introduce you to the magical world of the city, full of secrets and mysteries, where gondolas were once the main way people moved along the canals.
As you walk through Venice, every bridge you cross and every waterside street reveals sudden glimpses of gondola prows and sterns, like floating fragments of the city’s living history. Gondolas are crafted from eight different types of wood in the traditional ‘squero,’ or gondola boatyard, where skilled artisans shape them into their iconic asymmetrical design. One of their most distinctive features is the iron bow, called the ‘ferro,’ along with the gondola’s elegant black color.

During the tour, you will learn when and why gondolas were painted black, how they were used in everyday life in the past, and how these floating masterpieces have evolved over the centuries. As you explore quiet corners and lesser-known canals, you will uncover hidden details and hear fascinating stories that bring Venice’s maritime traditions to life.
If you feel like it, you can end the experience with a relaxing gondola ride along narrow, tucked- away canals, enjoying unique views that most visitors never get to see.

The guided tour costs 200,00 Euro for small groups and families up to 8 people.
Duration :2 hours
